Giving the gift of growth on International Mandela Day (18 July)

This is our 70^th year of making a difference in food security through our business and this year also marks 10 years since the passing of South Africa’s national icon, Nelson Mandela. We continue to be inspired by his words:

“What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived; it is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead.” – Nelson Mandela

Omnia strives to be a responsible corporate citizen and to positively impact the communities within which we operate. In line with our purpose of Innovating to enhance life, together creating a greener future, we are asking you to get involved in supporting our CSI household gardening program in partnership with Reel Gardening. Through this partnership we have been helping members of communities to grow their own vegetable gardens through an innovative yet simple to use “Garden in a box”. Hand made in South Africa, the boxes contain biodegradable seed tape that helps families grow food to feed a family of four for a year, while using 80% less water for irrigation.

In celebration of International Mandela Day, we are inviting you to join us in our quest to grow home vegetable gardens by buying a household “garden in a box”. For every garden in a box that you buy, Omnia will match your box for donation to a person in need. Reel Gardening will also teach you and the beneficiary of your second box how to grow and care for your vegetable garden.

With your help, our target is to donate and sustain 670 vegetable gardens, which translates to 10 gardens for each of the years Nelson Mandela fought for social justice. Please see the options you have for participation:

Option 1

You can buy 1 box to grow food for yourself. Omnia will match your purchase and give the second box for you to gift and teach someone in your life to grow their own vegetable garden.

Option 2

You can buy 1 box to grow food for yourself. Omnia will match your purchase, donate and teach someone else on your behalf to grow their own vegetable garden.

Option 3 – Donate Both Boxes

You can buy 1 box and donate it back to Omnia CSI. Omnia will match your purchase, donate both boxes on your behalf and teach two beneficiaries to grow their own vegetable gardens.
