Learning about the ins and outs of successfully and respectfully co-ordinating a team of people is just as important as learning about vegetable gardening. Your future Garden Project, whether it be a large garden at a church, smaller gardens at a local crèche or a combination of the two, will require you to work with people to realise your vision.
The Training Manual provides additional information for Section A. If you haven’t already, download this manual at the bottom of this lecture.
This very important stage of the project lays the foundation for a successful project and a working relationship that is rooted in trust and mutual respect.
Before you watch the video, read page 5 of the Training Manual.
At this stage of the programme you are going to learn how to establish that your intentions are aligned and how to lay the foundations for a good working relationship between you and your beneficiary partner. You are also going to need to assess whether there is a suitable location for a garden.
We have provided you with some pointers to help guide these early conversations. Consult the Managing Expectations Checklist and the Suitability Checklist as well as the Scheduling Template before getting started. If you haven’t downloaded them already you can find them at the bottom of this lecture.
Enjoy!
