Plant Varietals Available

Reel Gardening has a wide range of seed available. Some are manufactured in our patented, biodegradable seed tape that holds the seeds at the correct depth for planting, as well as the correct distance from each other.

Other seeds are manufactured in our biodegradable seed sachets which are 3cm x 3cm; and hold the seed at the correct depth. This offers versatility, allowing for planting in pots or any space that is available. *Tip – you can plant these sachets within a 2-open-hand radius of one another

Some varieties – we have available in both the longer tape, and the sachets.

BABY SPINACH

Virofly

Baby spinach is just young spinach that farmers harvest during the early stages of plant growth, generally between 15 and 35 days after planting. The smaller leaves are more tender and have a sweeter flavour than mature spinach.  In addition to its vitamin and mineral content, baby spinach also offers plenty of antioxidants.

BASIL

Sweet, Large Leaved

The scent from basil repels sap sucking insects, flies, hornworm, and mosquitos and helps prevent mildew.  Grow basil with tomatoes to improve their flavour as well as peppers and lettuce.

BEETROOT

Detroit Dark Red

Both the leaves and the roots of the beetroot plant are edible. The roots are high in Vitamin C and the leaves are high in Vitamin A. Eating beetroot can lower your blood pressure and improve your body’s use of oxygen, leading to better exercise performance.

BROCCOLI

Calabrese

Broccoli contains high levels of vitamin A; potassium; iron and manganese.  Broccoli is rich in fibre and antioxidants.

BUTTERNUT

Butternuts, gem squashes and pumpkins are considered squash vegetables. Squash is a good source of Vitamin A, C, E and Potassium as well as Calcium and Magnesium.  One cup of squash contains 350% of the Daily Recommended Allowance of Vitamin A, making it very important for maintaining good eyesight.

CABBAGE

Drumhead

Cabbage is a leafy vegetable that belongs to the same family as broccoli and cauliflower. It is a good source of many nutrients including Vitamin B, C and K and gives your body Calcium, Iron and Magnesium. Cabbage contains powerful antioxidants that can help reduce inflammation. Vitamin K is essential for blood clotting.

CARROT

Nantes

Carrots are the roots of the plant. They are a good source of Vitamin A, C, K, B and Potassium as well as Calcium. You can improve night-blindness by eating carrots.

CHILLI

Long Slim Cayenne

Boasting high amounts of Vitamin C and antioxidants, chillies have been found to help prevent lifestyle diseases including some cancers and stomach ulcers.

Red varieties, which are typically high in beta-carotene and pro-vitamin A, are said to boost immunity and promote healthy mucus membranes, which may ease congestion of the lungs, nasal passages, urinary and intestinal tracts.

CHIVES

The white flowers from chives attract beneficial insects to the garden.  Their smell keeps many harmful insects away from your garden, especially the carrot worm.  They also prevent mildew.  Plant with carrots, tomato, and squash to improve flavour.  Do not plant near peas. Chives are packed with Vitamin K, a critical component in bone density.

CORIANDER

American Long Standing

Coriander flowers attract both the beneficial pollinators and the predators that will eat the harmful pests in your garden.  The strong smell repels sap-sucking insects such as aphids and beetles.

GEM SQUASH

Gem squash is edible at all stages of its growth. Early gems are the size of golf balls, and the skin and seeds are edible, as is the flesh. As this vegetable matures, the skin hardens to protect the flesh within.  It is also a good source of Protein; Vitamin A, C, K, B6; Phosphorus; Magnesium; Potassium; Manganese and much more. Gem squash, like many other summer squash, help regulate blood sugar and provide antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits as well.

GREEN BEANS

Bush Contender

Beans are the seeds of the plant. We eat both the beans and the green pods they grow in. Beans are high in Vitamin A, B, C and K and provide you with Calcium, Potassium, and Iron.

Beans contain a wide variety of vitamins and minerals, are high in protein and fibre and low in calories, making them one of the healthiest foods you can eat.

KALE

Kale contains Fibre, Antioxidants, Calcium, Vitamins C and K, Iron, and a wide range of other nutrients that can help prevent various health problems.

LETTUCE

Salad Blend

Lettuce forms the leaves of the plant. It is high in Vitamin B, Iron and Potassium and is a good source of Vitamin A, C and K.  Eating lettuce can have anti-aging effects because it stops your body from producing excess free radicals.

MAROG

Green

Marog leaves are a good source of protein – a portion of 100g will provide half of the body’s daily allowance for protein. The iron content can be as high as 5 times the recommended daily allowance, the calcium content at least double and the Vitamin A content can be up to 20 times the recommended daily allowance.

MINT

Mint is a leafy plant that’s perhaps best known for its association with fresh breath due to the cool sensation it creates in the mouth. Mint is a calming herb that people have used for thousands of years to help soothe an upset stomach or indigestion.

ONION

Texas Grano / Australian Brown

Onions are nutrient-dense, meaning they’re low in calories but high in vitamins and minerals.  Rich in Vitamin C, and B, Onions play key roles in metabolism, red blood cell production and nerve function. Onions are also a good source of potassium.

PARSLEY

Plain Flat Leaf

The flowers from parsley attract many beneficial insects to the garden.  Parsley is high in Potassium, Magnesium, Calcium, and Iron.  You can plant it with Tomato, Carrots, Sweetcorn, and Onions, but NOT with Mint.

PEAS

Greenfeast

Peas are the seeds of the plant that grow in pods. While they are high in starch, they are also a good source of Vitamin A, C and K as well as Iron.  Including peas in your diet can help control your blood sugar and maintains a healthy digestive system.

RADISH

Cherrybelle

Radishes are a good source of Antioxidants. These root vegetables also have a good amount of Vitamin C, which acts as an antioxidant to protect your cells from damage.

ROCKET

Salad

Rocket, with its delicious green leaves, is a nutrient-dense food that is high in Fibre and Phytochemicals.  It contains Calcium; Potassium; Folate; Vitamins C, K, and A.

SPRING ONION

All Seasons

Spring onions are a great source of Vitamin C and Calcium. They are also an excellent source of dietary fibre, vitamin A and B6, and various minerals.

SWEETCORN

Golden Bantam

Sweetcorn is made up of the seeds of the plant that grow together on a cob. It contains high levels of Fibre, Vitamin B and Potassium. Sweetcorn has been linked to maintaining eye health. Sweetcorn is a special, low-starch variety of corn that contains less calories that field corn.

SWISS CHARD

Matador / Fordhook Giant

Spinach is a leafy green vegetable. It provides the body with Vitamin A and C and is high in Iron and Potassium. Eating spinach can help reverse the damage to your eyes caused by sunlight, and may help fight aging and reduce the risk of cancer and diabetes.

TOMATO

Floradade

Tomatoes are the fruit of the plant. They contain high levels of Antioxidants and are a good source of Vitamin C and E.  Consumption of Tomatoes have been linked to many health benefits, including a reduced risk of cancer on heart disease.
